CLUB INFORMATION - (Affiliated to LASA and MCASA)

RNSS is the parent house of Hillingdon Swimming Club which is fundamentally an independent competitive swimming club affiliated to the London Region Amateur Swimming Association and Middlesex County Amateur Swimming Association.

RNSS house swimmers showing the right potential are invited to trial with the Hillingdon Borough Elite Swimming Team (constituent house of Hillingdon Swimming Club). If successful this leads to a full time place with the Elite team. Even so, our swimmers always retain membership of their 'parent' house, Ruislip-Northwood.

Hillingdon Borough Elite Swimming team is also open to swimmers from other Clubs within Hillingdon who show potential for a place on this team.

BECOME INVOLVED

Hillingdon Swimming Club is an active club
with many opportunities to become involved

Become a teacher/coach
We are very proud of our teaching and coaching teams and welcome interest from swimmers, parents and other friends of the club who are interested in gaining qualifications.

If you would like to know more about opportunities in this are please speak initially to Head Coach, Lesley Westendorp; Head of Junior Section, Jane Biedul; or training officer Joanne Lawrence.

Potential teachers typically first gain experience as a poolside helper with the Junior Section on Sundays. Contact Head of Junior Section, Jane Biedul to learn more.

Helpers wishing to gain qualifications must be at least 16 years old to be eligible for Level 1 Teaching Aquatics and 18 years for Level 2.  Training officer Joanne Lawrence can help you to identify a suitable course.

Once you are qualified you will be eligible to apply for a paid teaching or coaching position within RNSS although we cannot guarantee that positions will be available.

Continued Professional Development
There are many courses and seminars available to help you to develop your skills.  We hope to update this section regularly with details of appropriate courses and funding.
In addition we have formal review sessions each year with our teachers and coaches to understand their development wishes and needs.
Contact Head Coach, Lesley Westerndorp or training officer Joanne Lawrence for advice on courses and funding.

Become an official

helpers

We could not run our club championships and team galas without the support of our timekeepers, judges, referees and starters.  Most officials start out by helping with timekeeping at club championships. It’s fun, there is good team spirit and it has to beat sitting in the gallery for hours!
More support is always welcome and Wayne Hirst can help you to gain experience and appropriate qualifications.

Good at administration?
There are many opportunities to join the RNSS team without ever dipping your toe
in the pool!

  • Squad reps – keeping your squad up to date with galas, session times and club events
  • Club championships support – the ‘backroom stuff’ recording entries, times, results etc.
  • Health and safety – keeping us all safe!
Social
Our summer water sports day at HOAC is always popular. Could you help to organise this and other events – quiz nights, squad meals etc?
