JUNIOR SECTION

Welcome to the Junior Section, which is the first step on the ladder to joining the competitive side of RNSS. Our aim is to take novice/beginners and develop them into club swimmers by concentrating on the four basic swimming strokes and good technique.

If you are interested in joining or finding out more information please contact us by email or on one the telephone numbers at the bottom of this page.

We swim on Sunday afternoons at Highgrove swimming pool (click here for map) from 1500 – 1800 in half-hour sessions. We schedule our sessions around school term time and aim to base each term on 12 weekly swims.

Fees for the courses are payable at the first session. Parents are not permitted on poolside but it is possible to view the pool from an inside gallery. For safety reasons unsupervised children are not allowed in the building.

If you would like to know more about this section of RNSS or would like any more information please feel free to contact us to discuss any issue.

PERSONAL SURVIVAL

The Personal Survival courses that are taught at RNSS are designed to improve each swimmer’s ability to remain safe around water and be able to identify possible dangers.
We use many strategies in our teaching to make sessions fun and practical. We firmly believe that by trying to recreate real life situations, we are encouraging the swimmers to think and respond quickly and effectively.
The A.S.A. Personal Survival Awards are used to acknowledge pupils’ achievements at the end of the course. Assessments for this award are completed during one session, towards the end of the course.
